Carpentier started driving in ChampCar in the late 1990s. His first ChampCar win came at Michigan in 2001 and he posted his best finish in the championship standings, third, in 2002. Carpentier moved to IRL in 2005 and began driving for Red-Bull. He made his NASCAR debut in the Busch Series Napa Auto Parts 200 held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal in 2007. A second-place finish in that race earned Carpentier an invitation to drive for Evernham Motorsports in the Nextel Cup race at Watkins Glen International, in which he finished 22nd. |
