McDowell’s successful racing career began in the Star Mazda Series in 2003. That year he finished as runner-up in the points standings, but he topped that a year later with his first championship after winning an astounding seven races. McDowell moved up to ARCA in 2006 and after finishing second in the points standings he made the transition to NASCAR the following year. He began on the Craftsman Truck Series and the Busch Series in 2007. After Dale Jarrett’s retirement this season McDowell was chosen to drive the 00 car for Darrell Waltrip Motorsports. |
