Speed made the transition to NASCAR in 2008 after two unspectacular years racing for Scuderia Toro Rosso in Formula 1. Speed began driving in the Craftsman Truck Series for Bill Davis Racing in 2008 and recorded his first career victory at Dover. Also in 2008 Speed made his debut in the Sprint Cup Series driving for Team Red Bull at Martinsville where he finished 30th.
