Andretti bears one of the most famous last names in racing, and has racing in his blood as the nephew of racing legend Mario Andretti. John Andretti made his Winston Cup debut in 1993 for Tex Powell. He became the first driver to race in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in 1994 and won his first Cup race three years later in 1997, when he claimed the checkered flag in the Pepsi 400 at Daytona. Andretti’s only other Cup victory came in the Goody’s Body Paint 500 at Martinsville in 1999. This season Andretti will drive in the Busch Series for Braun Racing and return to the Cup Series after a two year absence, driving for R&J Racing. |
