Ford 400 Preview

- Jimmie Johnson will try to wrap up his fourth consecutive Sprint Cup title on Sunday when the series hits Homestead-Miami Speedway for the season-ending Ford 400.

Johnson took the checkered flag in the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix over the weekend, while Mark Martin finished that race in fourth place. That puts Johnson's lead over Martin at 108 points heading into Sunday's season finale.

That means the standings leader only has to finish 25th or better at Homestead-Miami to wrap up the title. Jeff Gordon, who is 169 points back in third place in the standings, will be eliminated from Cup contention when Johnson starts on Sunday afternoon.

Gordon ended up in ninth at Phoenix. Jeff Burton, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch, Clint Bowyer, Juan Montoya, and David Reutimann also picked up Top-10 results in the Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500.

Carl Edwards won the Ford 400 last season, while Johnson ended up in 15th place at that event. Greg Biffle has three career Cup wins at Homestead-Miami, while Tony Stewart has two, and Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth, and Bobby Labonte have one each.
