Jimmie Johnson all but clinched his third-straight championship on Sunday after claiming the checkered flag in the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.
The win increased Johnson’s lead in the driver standings to 141 points over Carl Edwards, who finished fourth on Sunday.
Crossing the finish line behind Johnson at Phoenix was Kurt Busch in second, Jamie McMurray in third and Edwards in fourth. Denny Hamlin was fifth, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was sixth and Kevin Harvick was seventh. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 were Kyle Busch, Jeff Burton and David Ragan.
The NASCAR season concludes next week with the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
